FAQ

In Character Information

Okay, so where the heck am I?

You're in Avalar! Or, rather, more specifically, you've landed in Summer Forest. Sorry that you fell into the lake; we really can't do anything about the location of that particular portal. We have plenty of information in the the guidebook about it, so you might want to check that out!

More seriously, Avalar is a world from the original Spyro trilogy that served as the setting for Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! (Gateway to Glimmer in Europe and Australia or Spyro & Sparx: Tondemo Tours in Japan). Ripto threatened this world over the course of the game, but it was saved when Spyro defeated Ripto. Summer Forest specifically is the first homeworld in the game and is, quite obviously, a forest where it's always summer. There also happens to be a castle.

How did I get here?

A Wizard Did It.

All jokes aside, it really was magic that brought you here. You see, Avalar's magic hasn't been doing so well lately. You could almost say it's like the magic was being drained… Obviously, we can't have that! Magic is what keeps Avalar alive. That's why your character's been brought here—to help find out what's happening and to save this world!

So I'm stuck. Now what? Where can I go?

Worry not! You're not restricted to Summer Forest! You can go to any of the realms that you can get to through portals in Summer Forest. The Artisans Homeworld and Sunrise Spring are open to you as well!

The Artisans Home is located in the Dragon Realms (the setting of the very first Spyro game). Upon arrival, you'll be treated to the sight of a lovely countryside with ornate castles. The dragons here—the Artisans—are also rather friendly! As it happens, they're the most understanding of your plight and they'll gladly open everything up to you. You could even say they'd treat you like a fellow Artisan.

As for Sunrise Spring, a part of the Forgotten Worlds (the setting of Spyro: Year of the Dragon), it's a beautiful place to go relax. It's another rather obviously named location, a lovely spring where it's always bright and early in the morning! The land around the spring is flat for the most part with lush grass, tall trees, and several streams and waterfalls! There's also a castle.

Can I go anywhere else?

Nope. Unfortunately, the magic in Avalar isn't strong enough for anyone to get to the other homeworlds; the balloonists in the Dragon Realms have gone missing (presumably captured); the rocket that takes you to other homeworlds in the Forgotten Worlds is hopelessly broken! So I'm afraid you're stuck with Summer Forest, the Artisans Home, and Sunrise Spring for now.

That could change as more people show up, though…

All right then. What's with the stuff you just handed me?

Glad you asked! First, you get your own personal copy of the guidebook, so you can look up information on the worlds any time you need it! An encyclopedia of the world constantly at your fingertips! The orb that was given to you serves as your communicator. There's a section in the guidebook that details how to use it, which you can find here. As for the gems… those are the currency here! Red gems are worth a single gem, green gems are worth two, dark purple are worth five, yellow are worth ten, and the magenta ones are worth twenty-five!

Currency, you say? How can I get more?

Well, it sure doesn't grow on trees. Anyway, you can earn more gems by doing jobs for the inhabitants of this world, mostly. If you store your money in the bank of the Artisans' world, you'll earn a sort of interest on the gems you have stored—it's not much, though (and there's more on that subject in the guidebook page). With Avalar and the Forgotten Worlds, however, if you find gems on the ground, there's nothing stopping you from picking them up and keeping them. I wouldn't recommend doing this in the Dragon Realms though—the dragons are pretty adamant about keeping their treasure.

… Wait a second, where am I even going to stay?

Well, where would you like to stay? If you take a look in the guidebook, you'll find that many realms offer some form of housing, or you could pay to have a home built… Though, Summer Forest does offer housing for free! You can also get furniture for your home, depending on where you go!

Out of Character Information

Who can I app?

Pretty much anyone you want, provided you can give us a nice, strong personality section and you can show us that the canon exists. Alternatively, you can app OCs and fandom OCs, but those will be given much more scrutiny on their applications (particularly with fandom OCs).

Characters from crossovers, unless it is a canon crossover or a game transplant, are not allowed.

Do you allow AUs?

Yes, we do! We allow two AU character slots alongside every canon character slot.

So, about that "native AU" you mentioned…

Once all of Avalar's Homeworlds are open, you may app either a native AU character, or a native OC - that is, a character that's lived in any of these worlds their whole lives! Which means yes, you can app Cloud as a dragon who's been a dragon ever since he was born - or in this case, hatched! And you won't be limited to dragons - your characters can be anything from the Spyro games, unless there has only been one in canon (i.e. a Cheetah, Mole, Faun, Rabbit... etc.).
The biggest restriction is fodder, though - your character cannot, in any form, be fodder. No sheep (unless they're an alien saucer sheep), no frogs, etc.

Do you have any other restrictions on characters?

No, not really! The only real restrictions are that Transformers have to be sized down (but they can remain robots), and that Pokémon trainers are restricted to just six Pokémon at most!

One more thing. How does time run in this game?

This game runs on real time! So one day IC = one day OOC.
